Phillip Noyce leads Scarlett Johansson in the next period drama Mary Queen of Scots.
The film is based on the life of a Roman Catholic woman named Mary, who, in 1542, became queen of Scotland only nine months.
Later, it became a rival to the throne of England and was imprisoned for many years on charges of attempting to murder Elizabeth I.
It was finally beheaded in 1587 by Elizabeth of the order, reports Variety.
James McGovern, wrote the script, and producers of the film are Melanie Johansson and Alexandra Milchan.
The film, which is scheduled to start shooting next April in London and Scotland, will be financed by Capitol Films and Relativity.
